KION shares
Share price in the first half of 2026 affected by macroeconomic and geopolitical developments
As was the case in the equity markets in general, the price of KION shares was influenced by geopolitical factors in the first half of 2026. The share price started the year at €68.25 and ended the six months to June 30, 2026 at €38.77, corresponding to a decrease of 43.2 percent over the period under review. The DAX and MDAX benchmark indices added 2.1 percent and 1.8 percent respectively in the same period.
The global capital markets were characterized by geopolitical tensions and uncertainties around trade policy in the first half of 2026. The military conflict in the Middle East, sharp spikes in energy prices, and ongoing discussions about new US tariffs particularly burdened market conditions at times. Despite these uncertainties, the DAX and MDAX proved robust and made small gains over the six-month period.
Against this backdrop, the price of KION shares reached its high for the period in the first quarter, peaking at €70.25 on January 5, 2026. In the weeks that followed, growing geopolitical risks, rising energy prices, and uncertainties about the Iran war led to a noticeable correction in the equity markets. This caused the KION share price to fall and it closed the first quarter at €44.46.
The phase of heightened volatility in the capital markets initially continued at the start of the second quarter, driven primarily by investors’ ongoing uncertainty about the economic development in key sales markets and fears about rising costs as a consequence of geopolitical tensions. As a result, the price of KION shares dropped to a low for the first half of the year of €36.08 on June 11, 2026. The KION share price ended the quarter at €38.77 on June 30, 2026.
KION’s market capitalization stood at around €5.1 billion as at June 30, 2026, of which €2.7 billion was attributable to shares in free float.
